Zuni belt buckleThis is an interesting Zuni belt buckle, unlike any other I have ever seen. Unsigned. Hand cut coral and turquoise set in sterling. The border and leaves look very much like Dan Simplicio's work but rather than the primitive "Egyptian" two round eye approach of Dan, Juan and Effie, the snake head is fully modeled and developed in an accurate three dimensional representational style. The only other piece I have seen like that was attributed to Leekya. Of course it could have been made by somebody entirely different, I do not know. The size is 3 x 2" and it has its original dark patina.
