The Blue Heron Gallery is an antiques and art gallery that has been a must see destination for discerning collectors across America since 1997. Located a bit off the track in Fallbrook, a town nestled in the avocado and citrus belt of northern San Diego County, the gallery is known for its unique and special offerings.
Robert Sommers, the owner of the Blue Heron, first started buying and selling art in the late 1970’s. His first company was called El Flechador Del Sol and mainly dealt in artwork from the 1960’s.
In 1993, after a long stint in the real estate development business, Robert got back into selling art and antiques. He made an early name selling items from the arts and crafts period, twentieth century silver and fine paintings. Now his inventory stretches from the classic to the modern and everything in between.
First located in a very narrow shop up the street, the Blue Heron moved to its present location more than 15 years ago.
The gallery has been featured numerous times in San Diego Home and Garden Magazine as well as John Villani’s Best art towns of California book. The Blue Heron has a wide range of clients and customers, from people merely looking for an inexpensive and pleasant painting to brighten up a room to serious collectors interested in purchasing some of the finest examples of early California impressionism.
The Blue Heron Gallery has a wide offering of paintings, prints, silver, ceramics, furniture and other decorative furnishings. The gallery is open by appointment or by chance but usually open most Saturdays if Robert is not engaged doing an antique show somewhere. It is always best to call first. Robert Sommers also performs appraisal work on occasion if the material falls within his area of expertise.
