Born in Gardena, California, Robert E. Wood is known for his watercolor landscapes and marine paintings in a semi-abstract style. He earned a B.A. from Pomona College and an MFA from Claremont where he studied with Millard Sheets, Phil Dike and Jean Ames.
In 1990, he completed twenty-two large-scale murals, which are in the Hotel Caminoreal in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
He has also been instructor of art at the University of Minnesota, Duluth from 1952 to 1955 and from 1958 at the Claremont Graduate School.
Wood died February 14, 1999 in Redlands, California.
